Even though they are new, the condition can vary as small marks or scratches can occur during storage. This is why the record gets a letter rating even if new/unplayed. The sleeves may have been replaced or have wear and wrinkles from many years of storage. You may also find there is some surface sleeve rub caused by friction against the paper liner.
